Now that the 2008 Beijing Olympics over and done with, let the lolympics begin...
Michael Phelps
From his complete domination in swimming to his ridiculous training nutrition, Michael Phelps is a beast.
The American swimmer from Baltimore has won 14 career Olympic gold medals, the most by any Olympian. Most recently he won a record-breaking 8 gold medals at the Beijing olympics. Some swims were complete recordbreaking blowouts while some were close... a little bit too close...
...diet
He eats... wait for it... 12,000 calories per day while training. That's 6 times what the average person consumes. Here is Phelps’s typical day of eating according to the New York Post:
Breakfast: Three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five-egg omelet. One bowl of grits. Three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar. Three chocolate-chip pancakes. Lunch: One pound of enriched pasta. Two large ham and cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread. Energy drinks packing 1,000 calories. Dinner: One pound of pasta. An entire pizza. More energy drinks.
Kids, don't try this at home. Doctors say this diet is relatively safe only because he trains upwards of 5 hours per day and burns all those calories off.
...human?
Michael Phelps.... Superhuman? Super Saiyan?
There's more where that came from....
Usain Bolt
Speaking of olympic domination... we cannot leave out Usain Bolt.
This Jamaican sprinter smashed a ton of records at the Beijing olympics - the 100 metres at 9.69 seconds, the 200 metres at 19.30 seconds and, along with his teammates, the 4x100 metres relay at 37.10 seconds. During one, he started banging his chest in celebration well before making it to the finish line.
The time of his 100m recordbreaking run is not known. What is certain is that he broke the record.... thumbs up to that.
